When praying, don't give God instructions – just report for duty.

Pastor Spear was ordained in 1987 and retired in 2015 from South Church in Peabody, Ma. as the Director of Children’s Ministries. She has also served as interim pastor at Fort Square Presbyterian Church in Quincy, Ma. Prior to her service at Fort Square she served at the Litchfield Community Church Presbyterian in NH as pastor for 12 years. In retirement she is serving God as a member on the North Shore Young Life committee and Deacon to retired ministers in Boston Presbytery as well as her sense of call to fulfill her roll as grandmother of four, helping her daughter Jill with the care of Hope who was born 3 months premature.
Hope is doing well and now has a younger brother named Reed; and daughter Sandi with long distance grandmothering, (St. Albans,Vt.) of Abby and Ella.

It was this sense of call that lead Martha and her husband to move from the South Shore to the North Shore to be closer to their grandchildren, and they now live in Peabody, Ma.

It has been and continues to be very rewarding to see Abby, Ella, Hope and Reed grow and learn. They are a joy to be with but she also feels God's call to serve His Church in a more formal ministerial roll and is delighted to have the opportunity to serve both God's Church and her grandchildren.
